PsychoEd: Psychoeducation by me, Ed, a Clinical Psychologist.
This is my stalled blogging project that I started when I had a day off each week, and before I started my hiking blog, Hiking Scenery. My four day a week work schedule didn’t last very long, and my hiking blog has become a bit more of an obsession, as has hiking more generally. So I haven’t written anything in a while, but you may nevertheless find something of interest in the archives.
What this blog is about…
Psychoeducation refers to information that helps people to better understand and manage their mental health, or support family and friends with theirs. Many of my posts have come from discussions I’ve had with clients in group therapy, where you have more time to educate people on psychological matters. My ideas have been refined in sometimes feisty debates with these passionate and insightful clients, but there’s always room for improvement, so let me know your thoughts.
Expect to find analogies and short articles covering mental health topics and psychological science more broadly. If there are particular things you’d like to know about then just let me know in the comments.
And a quick disclaimer: this general knowledge is no replacement for advice tailored to your particular circumstances, so seek help from a mental health clinician if you need it.
